Mountain Lake, Virginia, U.S.A. is a deep blue, fresh water
lake with over a half-a-thousand miles of shoreline!!
Nestled in the heartland of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains
as Smith Mountain offers admirers one of the most beautiful,
yet unique settings of one of the largest cleanest bodies of
water found anywhere in the world! The lake holds the
official Virginia State Record for the largest fish ever
caught at fifty-three pounds, seven ounces! Water
temperature easily reaches the mid to upper eighties by mid
to early June, lower eighties early as mid to late May.
Nearly
every conceivable water sport has become the great past time
here at the lake. Not to mention the lake is home to over a
half a dozen golf courses, numerous marinas, countless
resort communities and is the home of the fifty-pound
striper!! The lake is man made and was finally at full pond
in the late summer of 1966. Since then all walks of life
started moving in. From book writers to Hollywood
celebrities to your down home everyday friendly neighbor
that abounds here. "What About Bob" was filmed here on the
lake! "The Twilight Zone" filmed a special episode here as
well. There is a special well kept airport lakeside offers
small private jets and prop planes an easy way in and out!
